Team Lead, Cards – United Bank Of Africa

United Bank for Africa is seeking a highly skilled Team Lead, Cards Technology to drive technical execution and ensure the stability of our card ecosystem across multiple African markets.

This role is ideal for professionals with strong hands-on experience in payments infrastructure, card systems, and cross-border operations within Africa.
Key Responsibilities:
• Manage end-to-end card processing and transaction flows
• Oversee switching and routing environments across multiple countries
• Drive integrations across card platforms and core banking systems
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues impacting card services
• Enhance system performance, stability, and operational efficiency
• Support cross-border card initiatives and regional scalability

Requirements:
• 8–12 years’ experience in cards technology / payments infrastructure
• Strong expertise in processing platforms and switching systems
• Proven hands-on experience in technical card environments
• Experience working across multiple African markets (Francophone & Anglophone)
• Strong understanding of local payment schemes, regulations, and compliance requirements
• Ability to manage multi-country stakeholders and distributed teams
• Familiarity with regional switches and domestic card schemes
• Experience handling cross-border transactions, settlements, and currency dynamics
• Solution-driven mindset with strong execution capability
